Egmont Perlite

Perlite is often added to potting mix to increase aeration and water retention. Perlite is lightweight, non-toxic and won’t break down, rot or decompose.

We recommend using perlite with other substrates as perlite on its own does not retain much water.

Perlite Benefits and Uses:

Enhances drainage in a dense potting mix and prevents waterlogging by allowing excess water to flow freely.

Improves aeration by creating air pockets in the soil, ensuring oxygen reaches the roots.

Reduces compaction by keeping the soil light and fluffy, preventing it from becoming dense over time.

Fungus Gnat Prevention: A top layer of perlite can deter adult fungus gnats from laying eggs in the soil.
